OiE Pandemic Care Series
In the spring of 2020, I was the Scholar/Artist/Activist in Residence in Disability Studies at Georgetown University and teaching Intro to Disability Studies, a course meant to introduce students to core concepts of disability studies and disability justice such as access and ableism and interdependence and spoons.
The course also explored care: What are our needs, and what kinds of structures must we build to create the care that meets those needs? The pandemic hit mid-semester, generating new forms of need and necessitating new forms of care.
